Hallo!
My name is Verena and I’m a German teacher here at the Language Hub. I was born and raised in Germany by an Italian mama and a German papa, even though I only ever learned to speak German and English. In 2020 I emigrated to the USA which means I know firsthand what it feels like to build a life in a new language.
Words have always been my home. I’m a bestselling author in my native German, and I’ve spent my life playing with language, the idioms that don’t translate, the jokes that only land in one language and the beautiful (sometimes hilarious) misunderstandings in between. German is famous for its wonderfully long words and surprising logic and I can’t wait to show you it’s far friendlier than its reputation.
Above all, I love people. Meeting someone new, hearing their story and connecting across cultures is my favorite thing in the world and it’s exactly what learning a language makes possible.
