Halley

HELLO, HOLA AND GUTEN TAG!

I'm Halley. I was born in Florida and lived many places before settling down in a small village in Bulgaria. I'm an artist of many mediums and I especially enjoy knitting and gardening.

I have been learning German since my family had an exchange student when I was nine years old. I became fluent during my exchange year with CBYX, where I worked at a children's fairytale theatre. I graduated from Florida State University with a minor in German language and later gave language lessons to local refugees when I returned.

I have also been teaching English in various capacities for the past 7 years, both online and in-person. I have a background in Theatre and a Master's degree in Peace Education, and I believe creating a positive and fun learning environment gives students the best chance to succeed and develop the confidence needed to speak.

I am very patient and understanding, especially because I know first hand both how difficult and rewarding it is to learn a foreign language. I speak German fluently, Spanish conversationally, and I'm currently studying Turkish and Bulgarian. I look forward to meeting you in class!
