Kate

My name is Kate and I’m thrilled to be joining you on your language learning journey. I have always been fascinated with languages but for many years convinced myself I wouldn’t be a teacher, and yet, many years later, here I am!

 

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Spanish Language and Literature from Berea College and a Master's degree in Professional Translation from the University of Granada. 

 

My journey with Spanish began in elementary school, but truly took off when I started to spend time in Spain during my undergraduate degree. Later, I moved to Spain and have been living there since 2021. I learned German as part of the CBYX Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange when I was in high school and later worked as an au pair for a year in northern Germany. I also hold a TEFL certification for teaching English and have experience teaching children and adults at all levels of proficiency. 

 

My philosophy is that mistakes should be celebrated, as this is how we grow and learn, and that all learning should be taken in good humor.  

I love connecting with people and tailoring the learning journey to each person's interests and passions, hopefully turning language learning into something that can be enjoyed and not simply a drudgery of rote exercises.
